AI is not used to create or modify GenoMethods editorial text, conduct research or fact-checking, monitor sources, translate articles, generate metadata or perform other editorial-text functions.

Human Responsibility
AI-assisted visual tools do not replace editorial responsibility. Editors remain responsible for:
- story selection;
- source selection;
- research;
- fact-checking;
- evaluating scientific evidence;
- reviewing limitations;
- publication decisions;
- corrections;
- deciding whether an AI-assisted visual is appropriate for the subject.
AI-generated output is not treated as an authoritative primary source. A visual tool cannot establish the truth of a scientific, clinical, regulatory or commercial claim.
Prohibited Fabrication
AI tools must not be used to create invented material and present it as verified fact. This includes fabrication of:
- scientific sources or research papers;
- quotations;
- experts or credentials;
- companies or organizations;
- clinical results;
- regulatory decisions;
- company statements;
- events presented as real.
AI Images
AI-generated or AI-assisted images may be used as illustrations for conceptual biotechnology subjects, scientific processes or abstract editorial themes.
Synthetic imagery should not be presented as an authentic documentary photograph of a real scientific, clinical, corporate or news event when it is not. A conceptual illustration should remain distinguishable in purpose from documentary evidence.
AI imagery should not falsely depict a real person performing an action, making a statement or participating in an event that did not occur.
Synthetic scientific visuals should not be presented as actual microscopy, experimental results, clinical scans or primary scientific evidence.
Disclosure
GenoMethods may identify a visual as AI-generated, AI-assisted, illustrative or conceptual when disclosure helps prevent reader confusion about whether the image depicts an actual event, specimen, experiment or document.
YMYL and Sensitive Subjects
AI-assisted visual tools do not replace qualified sources, primary documentation or human editorial review for medical, regulatory, financial, legal, safety or other high-impact claims.
Information with potentially significant consequences remains grounded in appropriate evidence and human editorial review.
Future Changes
If GenoMethods changes how AI is used, this policy should be updated to describe the actual workflow and its editorial boundaries.
