AVS Bio, backed by Arlington Capital Partners, has bought Cambridge-based Biorbyt. The deal instantly grows AVS Bio’s biomaterials catalog and digital presence in life sciences.

Biorbyt Ltd, a Cambridge supplier known for its huge range of bio-reagents, antibodies, and proteins, is now part of AVS Bio. The Norwich, CT-based company closed the deal for an undisclosed amount. Biorbyt’s full product line and ecommerce platform now sit under the AVS Bio brand.

This isn’t just a product grab. AVS Bio gets scale and a digital backbone. Biorbyt, founded in 2011 and registered in the UK as Companies House number 07479871, has built a catalog with over 1 million SKUs. The lineup covers primary and secondary antibodies, recombinant proteins, ELISA kits, and molecular biology reagents. Its ecommerce site serves pharma, biotech, and academic labs worldwide. That reach is now AVS Bio’s edge.

Biorbyt’s product range includes not only antibodies and proteins but also small molecules and native proteins, supporting a wide spectrum of research applications.

AVS Bio already runs more than 20 sites across North America and Europe. It supplies key bioprocessing inputs like SPF eggs, cell products, and organoid growth factors. Now, with Biorbyt’s digital tools and scientific team, AVS Bio is set to become a broader biomaterials supplier. The company’s global footprint just got bigger.

On September 23, 2026, AVS Bio put out a press release confirming Biorbyt will keep its current leadership. The team will stay in place within the AVS Bio platform. The company says this keeps Biorbyt’s expertise intact. AVS Bio calls the deal a major expansion of its research product catalog and global distribution. The company also gains Biorbyt’s advanced ecommerce system, according to the official company announcement.

Jac Price, CEO of AVS Bio, said, “Biorbyt – with its expansive portfolio of antibodies, proteins, and reagents, and advanced ecommerce platform – marks an important step in our journey to becoming a truly diversified, leading and global biomaterials provider and will allow us to reach more customers in more geographies than ever before. We’re thrilled to welcome the Biorbyt team to the AVS Bio platform.”

Arlington Capital Partners is the private equity owner behind AVS Bio, and has been instrumental in supporting the company’s growth strategy in the life sciences sector.

Arlington Capital Partners, the private equity backer, has a record of building companies in tightly regulated sectors tied to healthcare and infrastructure. Malcolm Little, Partner at Arlington Capital Partners, said, “Since our initial investment, our vision alongside AVS Bio’s leadership team has been to build it into a scaled life sciences platform with the breadth and capabilities to support customers across the research and development lifecycle. Biorbyt is highly complementary to AVS Bio’s capabilities and will materially broaden its product offering while adding digital commerce capabilities and the deep scientific and commercial expertise of Biorbyt’s exceptional leadership team.”

Biorbyt’s co-founders, Dr. Tillmann Ziegert and Qun Yang, are on board. “We are very excited to join the growing AVS Bio family. Our combined catalog, along with our ecommerce platform and data-driven commercial tools, creates a powerful engine to serve researchers around the world and bring an even broader portfolio of high-quality biomaterials to our joint global customer base.”

This deal is the latest in a string of cross-border biotech moves. It echoes the pace seen in recent European pushes into global life sciences.

Biorbyt’s leaders will stay. Its digital platform now powers AVS Bio’s global push. The combined company can now offer a wider, easier-to-access range of biomaterials to labs and manufacturers worldwide. The race to control the biomaterials supply chain is heating up. AVS Bio wants to stay ahead. With Biorbyt’s ecommerce and scientific know-how now inside AVS Bio, rivals may have to rethink their own digital and global plans in the research reagents market.
