Xbrane says recruitment is complete in the pivotal study of its nivolumab biosimilar candidate. The company has yet to disclose results or a regulatory timetable.

Recruitment is complete, but the study results remain undisclosed. Xbrane reported the milestone on 13 October 2026 in the pivotal clinical study of Xdivane, its biosimilar candidate to Bristol Myers Squibb’s cancer drug Opdivo, which contains nivolumab. The company’s clinical-trial announcement confirms enrolment is finished, not that trial results are available or regulatory progress has been made.

“This is an important achievement for the Xdivane programme and a testament to the commitment of the patients, investigators, clinical trial sites and the entire Xbrane team,” CEO Martin Åmark said in a statement.

About 340 patients with melanoma were enrolled in the pivotal Xdivane study.

Responsibilities are split across the partnership

India’s Intas Pharmaceuticals is responsible for clinical development under the global licensing arrangement. Its subsidiary Accord Healthcare handles global commercialisation. A report on the recruitment milestone also describes the collaboration between Xbrane and Intas.

Xbrane gave no clinical results or expected timetable. It said the next step is to prepare clinical and analytical data for regulatory applications. A separate CAR-T report covered distinct oncology research; its findings say nothing about Xdivane.

Xbrane said it expects to prepare the clinical and analytical data needed for regulatory applications following completion of recruitment. The company described this work as a step toward advancing Xdivane toward commercialisation, not as a completed filing or approval.

Recruitment is not evidence of clinical benefit

The reported milestone confirms full recruitment in a partnered biosimilar programme. The announcement assigns clinical development to Intas and global commercialisation to Accord.

Opdivo contains nivolumab, a PD-1 inhibitor used for melanoma. Its other indications include non-small-cell lung cancer and renal-cell carcinoma.

Completing recruitment does not establish patient benefit or market readiness. The study’s focus on melanoma also says nothing on its own about Xdivane’s clinical performance or interchangeability with Opdivo; those questions depend on the results and regulatory assessment.
